Rockville, Md., [January 25, 2011] Portal Solutions today announced it has reached the Microsoft Partner Network’s (MPN) Gold Level competency for both Portals & Collaboration and Digital Marketing, as well as the Silver level competency for Search. MPN is Microsoft’s revamped partner program that makes it significantly more challenging for partners to attain “precious metal” competencies. In 2009, Microsoft announced its transition to the MPN program as a key step to ensure its highest rated partners truly represent quality services delivery and technical capability. It has been transitioning partners to the new system, and as of October 2010, all partners are now required to meet the new standards to maintain or gain competency in a specific area.
Each Gold level competency requires a minimum of 4 certified technologists, trained Sales & Marketing staff, and documented client engagements in the specific technology. The new rules also make it more difficult to achieve multiple competencies, as they require unique individuals to pass exams. In the past, one consultant’s certification could be used against multiple competencies, but the MPN program only allows an exam to count once. In addition, positive client references and ratings are also required and highly weighted as part of the overall program achievement.
