Val Orekhov to Speak at Federal SharePoint Users Group

Rockville, Md., [October 20, 2010]  Portal Solutions’ Chief Architect Val Orekhov will address the November meeting of the Federal SharePoint Users Group (FEDSPUG) on Thursday, November 4th.  Titled Search Engine Face Off:  Keywords vs. Metadata, Orekhov will explore the differences between enterprise search applications for SharePoint, and show the pros and cons of each. He will also show how the difference between using only keyword search varies from the results of metadata search.

As part of his presentation, Orekhov will offer insight on what steps an enterprise should take to evaluate which method of search meets their specific needs.  He notes “At the Enterprise level, Search is a key component of a portal/intranet/website structure, even more important than the taxonomy. More and more users are accustomed to using search before navigation, and the preference toward search is growing daily. Implementing the right search option for your organization is critical. I hope to demystify the hype and in plain speak let the technologists know what they should be evaluating.”
