Rockville, MD (January 27, 2006) – Portal Solutions, the leader in helping organizations achieve superior business value from Microsoft SharePoint, announced today that it is participating, along with several of its customers, in Microsoft's Rapid Deployment Program (RDP) for Office 2007. The company will be specifically focusing on beta testing of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services V3, which Microsoft will be releasing in early 2007. Portal Solutions is one of the fewer than 70 Microsoft Solutions Providers asked to participate in the program.
Under the Office 2007 Rapid Deployment Program, Microsoft customers are actively beta testing Office 2007 and SharePoint 2007, to identify potential problems and compatibility issues so they can be resolved prior to commercial release of the product. Portal Solutions will provide project management services and coordination efforts with its customers and Microsoft, as well as helping customers develop specific business solutions based on Office 2007. Portal Solutions, which has significant SharePoint expertise, is often tapped by Microsoft to participate in such programs.
As part of the Rapid Deployment program, Portal Solutions is working with select customers to build solutions using new features and capabilities in Office SharePoint 2007. Portal Solutions and those customers will participate with Microsoft in promotional and media events during the Office 2007 product launch, including preparing case studies and other communications.
Daniel Cohen-Dumani, CEO at Portal Solutions said, “It’s a great opportunity to work with our clients as they get a first hand look at the power of Microsoft Collaborative Technologies. We expect that the launch of the next version of SharePoint will be very well received and are excited to start working with the application a year before it’s officially launched.”
One client will be the Citizens Development Corps (CDC), a nonprofit organization that promotes economic development in emerging markets. CDC supports the MBA Enterprise Corps (MBAEC) which deploys MBA graduates from leading U.S. business schools to assist in the development efforts of companies, institutions, and industries worldwide. As part of the RDP, the following is planned to occur:
- An enterprise portal will be created using Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007. The portal will offer different content areas, provide My Sites where users can edit their own profiles, and deliver a centrally-managed document library. Organization-wide searches for program information and recruitment data will be possible within the portal, helping staff to make use of the organization’s wealth of existing information.
- Microsoft Office InfoPath® 2007 will enable staff to easily access and report on applicant information as it is captured in Web-based forms.
- Additionally, a new MBA portal will be built, also based on Office SharePoint Server 2007. The portal will include participant profiles, information about participating schools, and placement opportunities. It will also provide members with access to job and program announcements, discussion forums, document libraries, and alerts when content is modified.
