Conservation International is a prominent non-profit dedicated to furthering the cause of worldwide conservation.

Prior to engaging Portal Solutions, they had operated six publicly-facing websites which lacked a cohesive marketing presence and messaging. In addition, managing content was cumbersome and time-consuming. Conservation International decided that they wanted to migrate to a unified website platform, and felt that Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 afforded the best vehicle for this.

The challenge was how to perform this migration with the least possible manual effort, while at the same time enhancing and simplifying content management. Portal Solutions, through its partnership with MetaLogix, used the latter’s Migration Manager product as part of its overall solution.

By developing custom actions to provide a repeatable migration process and handle migration of dynamic content, Portal Solutions made the overall website migration process far easier than Conservation International ever expected.

Portal Solutions also worked closely with the client’s creative agency, coordinating branding development and customizing MOSS functionality to support website deployment. Among the unique capabilities developed for the client were special web parts that allowed for the implementation of custom search capabilities.
