A major audit firm in the eastern U.S. was becoming rapidly overwhelmed with the sheer volume of client-related documents. This was causing problems with auditor efficiency, client and internal communications, and ultimately client satisfaction.

Their goal was to dramatically improve the overall management of the firm’s core auditing business, primarily through better document management for the firm’s 2000+ clients. The company engaged Portal Solutions to develop a customized extranet solution based on SharePoint and Windows SharePoint Services.


The main requirements included allowing for simple data request and data collection, which would enhance the document management process for the auditors. This functionality and other capabilities were created by Portal Solutions with a strong emphasis on ease of user adoption and ease of use, since this represented an entirely new way of operating for the auditors.


As part of this solution, Portal Solutions designed and developed a custom user interface for the client. The result was that the audit firm has improved its operational efficiency substantially, with a corresponding increase in client satisfaction.
