World-Renowned Medical School
The School of Public Health at one of the world’s leading medical schools was interested in taking advantage of the various social networking capabilities now in widespread use. Since they had SharePoint 2003 already installed, they wanted to migrate the school portal to SharePoint 2007 with MOSS. This would enable them to leverage such social networking capabilities as Wikis and Blogs, which they viewed as an excellent vehicle for increasing interaction on public-facing team sites with outside parties. Portal Solutions implemented a new MOSS infrastructure and then successfully migrated SharePoint 2003 to SharePoint 2007. In addition, Portal Solutions developed unique custom web parts to ensure the efficient integration of Outlook Web Access and SAN-based file storage into the client’s new SharePoint platform. This unified solution enabled the school to significantly extend its outreach and market presence, not to mention the enhanced collaboration that derived from its SharePoint 2007 extranet.
