Portal Solutions has been involved in designing, developing, implementing, and customizing SharePoint solutions since early 2002. Since the inception of the company, the focus has been exclusively on building industry-leading expertise in the SharePoint platform. Over the last seven years, as SharePoint itself has evolved, we’ve expanded and adjusted our own emphasis to ensure that we are capable of supporting the latest and most valuable SharePoint capabilities.
In 2003, Portal Solutions shifted its focus to the upcoming version of SharePoint Portal Server 2003, which for the first time combined both Enterprise Portal and Team-Based Collaboration in one technology platform. As a wider range of companies began to show interest in this platform, Portal Solutions quickly embraced this and our breadth of client types broadened accordingly. At the same time, Portal Solutions expanded its toolbox of popular customizations designed to deliver additional functionality and reduce the cost of typical intranet and extranet deployments.
In 2004, Portal Solutions developed its own methodology to streamline SharePoint Portal implementation projects. This methodology, known as “FastStart for Microsoft SharePoint”, is based on the Microsoft Solution Framework and the QuickStart implementation strategy. By enabling rapid but controlled deployment of Microsoft SharePoint Portal Technologies, this approach made SharePoint implementation even more attractive to organizations concerned about limited resources.
Starting in 2005, Portal Solutions began a formal maintenance and support program that provided clients with escalated issue response and proactive monitoring of both their IT environment and their usage of the SharePoint system. During 2006, Portal Solutions played an active role in beta testing the newest version of Microsoft’s leading enterprise platform - SharePoint 2007. This experience gave Portal Solutions the opportunity to extend its customization toolbox even further, building a team of SharePoint experts with unique and powerful knowledge of how to implement custom solutions. Many of our deployments in 2007 took advantage of the new platform’s more robust document management and content management features, enhancing our market presence and industry reputation accordingly.
Today, Portal Solution’s team of SharePoint consultants is excited about the new trends in Portal Technologies such as social networking in all of its various forms. Furthermore, we’re committed to “thinking outside the box” by developing new ways to apply SharePoint to help organizations operate more effectively.
